POST School Vacation Profiles

Newton POST profiles include information about school vacation programs located and/or based in the City of Newton, Massachusetts. Profiles were gathered from programs that meet the criteria below.

What is a School Vacation Program?

To be eligible, a program/organization must:

  • accept children between 5 and 17 years old. Note that some programs enroll children older than 17 years of age;
  • operate during the school year during public and/or independent school vacation weeks;
  • operate during standard workday hours (7 am-6 pm). Note that some programs offer extended hours;
  • operate regularly, most often Monday through Friday;
  • be licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care, under the auspices of a school department or officially exempt.

Note that many other options are available to families during out-of-school-time hours, such as classes and recreational activities. Using the criteria above to define a school vacation program, these programs are not included in the school vacation section of the POST database.
