POST Class or Recreational Program Profiles
Newton POST profiles include information about classes and recreational programs located and/or based in the City of Newton, Massachusetts. Profiles were gathered from programs that meet the criteria below.
What is a Class or Recreational Program?
To be eligible for inclusion in the Newton POST, a program/organization must:
- accept children between 3 and 17 years old. Note that some classes enroll children younger that 3 years and offer classes to older teens and adults.
- schedule classes on a regular basis (weekly, monthly), generally one to several hours in length, not intended as child care but as an enrichment activity.
Note that many other options are available to families during out-of-school-time hours, such as summer camps, before and after school programs, and school vacation programs. Using the criteria above to define a class, these programs are not included in the class or recreational activity section of the POST database.
