POST Camp Profiles
Newton POST profiles include information about camps and summer programs located and/or based in the City of Newton, Massachusetts. Profiles were gathered from programs that meet the criteria below.
What is a summer camp?
Within the Newton POST Summer Camp section, we use the terms "camp" and "program" interchangeably, and have established these guidelines for inclusion as a camp listing. To be eligible, a program must:
- accept campers between 3 and 17 years old;
- operate between the months of June and September;
- operate during standard workday hours (7 am- 6 pm);
- operate for 2.5 or more hours a day;
- enroll 5 or more children.
Refer to the page titled "State Regulations and Accreditation for Summer Camps" to learn more about official state licensing requirements and exemptions.
Note that many other options are available to families during out-of-school-time hours, such as academic tutoring, arts classes, etc. Using the criteria above to define a camp program, these classes are not included in the camp section of the POST database.
