The Needham Community Education Department offers a selection of after-school programs at each elementary school. Casses, taught by Needham Public Schools staff, parents, community members and other qualified professionals, enable elementary students to extend their learning beyond the classroom in a relaxed environment. Classes meet once a week after school and offerings include the arts, sports, hobbies and science discovery.

The Needham Soccer Club provides to the youth of Needham multi-faceted soccer programs that are age and skill appropriate and support physical and social development. The Club strives, for all players, to encourage passion and enthusiasm for the game of soccer and to promote respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, referees, fans and self. The Club is also committed to ongoing training and development for its coaches and referees as a means to further enhance the youth soccer experience in Needham.

WEE Read at the Charles River YMCA

A first and second grade book club. The children interact with each other by reading books provided to them by the YMCA. As each book is read questions concerning the reading will be asked and followed by an entertaining activity to provide a fun and educational learning experience. Every Thursday for 4 weeks starting July 2, 2009. Time: TBA. Cost: Family-member, $40.00, Youth-member, $60.00, Non-members: $80.00
