The Council runs a variety of programs including a medical
equipment loan closet, to a food pantry, a thrift shop & flea
market and an English as a 2nd Language Tutoring program for
adults.
The program's mission is to extend hospitality to every individual
who needs a hand. There is a wide range of volunteer opportunities
available.
The Needham Council on Aging is dedicated to making a positive
impact on the lives of residents of all ages and acts as a gateway
to information, services and programming that support and enable a
multigenerational group (ages randing from 60 to over 100) to
maintain health, independence, optimal level of functioning,
wherever the person resides. Offerings are designed to help
maximize quality of life based on individual interests and needs.
The professional staff offers individually tailored counseling and
case management in a variety of settings, and can provide an array
of information, resources and referrals to a variety of services.
The Needham Council on Aging provides rides at no cost between a
resident's home and the Senior Center. The Council on Aging Shopper
Bus, sponsored by Roche Bros., takes seniors grocery shopping on
Wednesday mornings. A Dial-A-Ride service, operates on Saturdays
for residents ages 65 and over, offering service to destinations
within Needham and to the Newton Highlands and Waban MBTA stations
and Dedham Medical Associates.

Library volunteers support, enrich, and enhance the library's
services and programs by performing tasks that paid staff members
are not available to do. Volunteering offers an opportunity to meet
others who love books and libraries while providing a valuable
service to the library and the community.

This program offers residents the opportunity to give back to the
community in a meaningful way, while engaging with the students,
administrators and teachers who make the Needham Public Schools so
special. All volunteers are interviewed so that they can be matched
with the volunteer opportunity that best suits their interests,
skill-set and personality. They receive orientation and training
prior to beginning their placement.
An intergenerational service and social club whose members work together to improve and enrich the lives of the Needham Community through Philanthropic and outreach programs.
Stephen Palmer Senior Center

Volunteers fill a variety of positions at the Stephen Palmer Senior
Center. They lead groups, provide office support, offer
hospitality, transport / visit elders and undertake special
projects. There are also many other ways to help at the Center.
Volunteer opportunities can be created to suit individual
interests.
