The mission of Earthwatch is to engage people worldwide in scientific field research and education in order to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment. Earthwatch offers a variety of family-together volunteer projects that make great hands-on learning experiences (includes several teen programs). Earthwatch's Teen Team Expeditions explore the world's most beautiful and endangered places. And these hands-on trips aren't only educational, but a way for teens to make a real difference and truly help the places they visit instead of just 'seeing' them as a passive bystander. The organization also offers all the tools, training, and experiences their volunteers need to make an impact.

Lawrence Academy Summer Immersion Program in English, Italian, and Mandarin

The program gives American Students, entering grades 7th-12th, a chance to study Italian or Mandarin Chinese for 2, 3, or 4 weeks while living on campus alongside students from Italy, China, and around the world. The program is divided into classroom instruction, off-campus cultural activities, on-campus sports/arts/specialty instruction, evening enrichment activities, and weekend excursions. Past programs included students from Italy, China, Germany, France, Switzerland, Japan, Spain, Hong Kong, England, Australian, Poland, Dominican Republic,South Korea, and Taiwan. The program begins Wednesday, July 18, 2012 and ends Wednesday, August 15, 21012.

Affiliated with Boys & Girls Club of America, Hansom Youth Programs provide a wide variety of services and activities for children 5 years to 18 years of age, including before and after school programs, day camps during summer vacation & school holidays, youth sports, youth transition, and support services. Youth (9 - 18 yrs.) are eligible to become members and use the Youth Center and its programs. Activities include open recreation, field trips, sports and instructional programs. Teen drop-in on Tuesday/Thursday 6-8 pm and Friday/Saturday 6-10 pm. Sponsors of the children must be active duty military, active military reserves or civilian employees working on Hanscom Air Force Base.

LEAP, afterschool program provides a supervised "Neighborhood" where children develop friendships, nurture social skills, and play. Self-confidence, self-respect, and self expression are encouraged, as are responsibility, decision-making, and respect for others. LEAP's recreational focus provides unstructured time for socializing and unwinding, as well as structured time for doing homework. LEAP's on-campus location, (the Hartwell side of the school in Pod C.) allows the program to take full advantage of the Lincoln School playgrounds and athletic fields. Occasional day trips. This program is a great way for middle school students, grades 6-8th, to spend their early release Wednesdays. Children are invited to come on one trip or all of them. All programs will start and end at the Fairbank Community Center and then the participants will take a bus to the designated location. These programs are run by the Sudbury Park and Recreation Department. Contact the Sudbury Parks & Recreation Department for more information.
